Songwriting Starter

Ready to compose your first song? Complete these tasks to create your own musical hit!

Task 1: Write a Catchy Chorus

Think about your favorite hobby, food, or animal. Your first task is to write a short, catchy chorus (4-6 lines) about it. A chorus is the part of a song that repeats, so make it memorable!

Task 2: Tell a Short Story

Now, write one verse (about 4-8 lines) that tells a small story related to your chorus. If your chorus is about pizza, your verse could be about the time you tried to make pizza for the first time. A verse adds details to the song's story.

Task 3: Find a Simple Melody

You don't need an instrument for this! Try humming or singing your chorus in different ways. Is it fast and happy, or slow and thoughtful? Record yourself on a phone to remember your favorite melody. You've just created the beginning of a song!
